Form 6.3 - Upper 6th - July '88
Theatre Studies. Effort (B/C) Attainment (-) Exam (C)
Bingo is an intelligent, articulate and competent student. He has the potential to do extremely well in the 'A' Level examination. He now has to concentrate on pulling all his talent and skills together in order to do himself justice in the final examinations. If this impetus is not maintained, he is in danger of underachieving. J. Manley & K. Allen
European History Effort (D) Attainment (C/D) Exam 33%
Bingo must quickly realise that 'A' level history requires a great deal of private reading and study. He continues to believe that examiners will be satisfied by essays written in his individualistic style, but containing few facts: this will not be the case. If Bingo is to obtain the grade of which he is capable he must put in a great deal of private study before the exam. C. Bury
American History Effort (C) Attainment (D) Exam 35%
Over the course of the year Bingo's work has improved significantly. He has adopted a more purposeful approach to his studies and seems to have found the topics covered more interesting and relevant. As a result he has developed the knowledge and understanding of topics to tackle questions more directly and to support his arguments with greater detail. Bingo's Mock Paper, however, showed that whilst he is capable of gaining a reasonable grade, he will fail 'A' Level unless he prepares fully. There is still a lot of hard work to be done if Bingo is to do himself credit in June. N. Long
English Literature Effort (C) Attainment (C) Exam 51%
Bingo has worked fairly consistently through the course and he is capable of gaining a good grade in the summer. However he must prepare very thoroughly for the examination in the summer. He must ensure that he is fully equipped with detailed knowledge of the texts and that he pins his ideas down to a firm structure in his answers. Bingo has the ability to do well, but he must work hard in this last but crucial stage of the course. I wish him the best of luck in the future. J. Carpenter
English Effort (C) Attainment (C) Exam 51% Bingo has worked reasonably well over the last two years, but there are still problems with the way he approaches literary analysis. Bingo has a tendency to get side tracked into sometimes irrelevant discussion rather than looking at the text he has in front of him. He must realise that 'A' level demands close engagement and detailed analysis well backed up by appropriate quotation. Bingo must try to adopt this approach now. P. Dalgano
General Studies Effort (C) Attainment (B) Exam 60.5%
Although Bingo is not doing the lessons on this course he has the breadth of knowledge and variety of ideas to tackle a General Studies paper successfully. His mock exam clearly showed these abilities and his potential for a good grade. His essays were thoughtful, stimulating and well argued and his general knowledge of Arts and Social Sciences very impressive. His main weakness was in comprehending a scientific passage. More practice papers should help overcome such weaknesses. M.J. Slattery
Form Tutor's Comments
Bingo seems to have enjoyed his time in the 6th form and has contributed much to 6th form life. To make lasting use of his ability and experience he must now concentrate on his studies, particularly learning texts thoroughly. If he can manage this, he should be able to achieve the 'A' Level grades that will provide a springboard for further studies and a stimulating and successful career. J. Drake
